Ingredients:

  1. Chicken 1kg
  2. Onions 2 (thinly sliced)
  3. Yogurt 1 cup
  4. Bay leaves 2
  5. Cloves 8
  6. Black pepper 1 tsp
  7. Green cardamom 6
  8. Garlic paste 1 tbsp
  9. Green chili 4 (chopped)
  10. Ginger paste 1 tbsp
  11. Green coriander 1/2 cup (ground)
  12. Salt 1 1/2 tsp
  13. Red chili powder 1 tsp
  14. Turmeric 1 tsp
  15. Spice (garam masala) 1 tsp
  16. Oil 3/4 cup

Procedure:

Heat oil in a heavy based sauce pan.
Fry onion until golden color then remove onion and grind it.
Mix the onion paste with yogurt and keep aside.
Reheat the oil over medium heat.
Add bay leaves, cloves, black pepper, green cardamom and fry for 1 or 2 minute.
Then add garlic paste, ginger paste, coriander, garam masala, chili powder, and salt.
Stir frequently and cook for about 5 minutes.
Add little water if the mixture sticks to the pan.
Add meat and fry for another 8 minutes, stir continue.
Pour just enough water to cover the meat and cover the lid.
Reduce the heat to low.
Cook for 30 minutes or until the meat is almost tendering.
Now stir continuously, add yogurt mixture slowly in meat.
Stirring frequently fry for 5-8 minutes or until the meat became completely tenderized.
Add 2 cup of water if you want thin gravy, otherwise add 1/2 cup of water.
Bring to a boil, cook for 5 minutes more.
Remove from heat.
Add coriander and green chili.
Serve hot with rice or nan.
