Ingredients:
Karhi:
- Gram flour 1/2 cup
- Yogurt 1 kg
- Onion 1 (chopped)
- Potatoes 2 (cut small cubes)
- Green chili 8 (minced)
- Ginger 1 tbsp (shredded)
- Salt 1 1/2 tsp
- Red chili powder 1 tbsp
- Turmeric powder 1 tsp
- Cumin seeds 1 tbsp
- Spice powder 1 tsp
- Clove 3
- Black cardamom 2
- Cinnamon stick 1 (1 inch)
- Water 10 cup
- Oil 4 tbsp
Fritters:
- Gram flour 1/2 cup
- Salt 1/2 tsp
- Red pepper 1/2 tsp
- Spice powder 1/2 tsp
- Onion 1 (sliced)
- Green chili 2 (minced)
- Water 1/2 cup (as needed)
- Oil (for fry)
Procedure:
Fritters:
Mix all dry ingredients in a bowl written under fritter section.
Add water and prepare a thick batter, no lumps should be there.
Add onion and green chili, mix well.
Cover it and keep in fridge for 30 minutes.
After that heat plenty of oil in a wok and drop heaping tablespoon of batter.
Fry fritters until became brown.
Transfer over paper towel and keep aside.
Karhi:
Add gram flour, yogurt in blender and make a smooth batter from it.
In a deep sauce pan add oil and fry onion until became pink.
Add all dry ingredients and simmer for just 2-3 minutes.
Pour the yogurt and gram flour mixture in it and stir well.
Add 10 cup water, cook over high flame and stir it continuously.
When it became rolling boil, stop stirring and cover it.
Cook over low flame for 1 hour, stir occasionally.
Add washed potatoes, ginger and cook for 1 hour more over low flame, stir occasionally.
Karhi will be ready in 2 hours.
After two hours a red layer of oil will be separate over it that means its ready now.
When you transfer karhi in bowl, add fritters in it and dip them in it.
Serve it with boil rice or roti.
Preparation Time: 40 minutes
Cooking Time: 2 hour 30 minutes
